From the looks of it, 2012 is already gearing up to be a great year for alternative fuel and fleet-related events. We’ve compiled a chronological list of the most promising events for the next few months, with descriptions on why they should matter to fleet managers, alternative fuel fleets or anyone with an interest in the future of transportation.
NTEA Work Truck Show – March 6-8, 2012: The Work Truck Show, hosted by the NTEA (formerly the National Truck Equipment Association) is North America’s largest work truck event, and features new products displays, training programs and hundreds of exhibiting companies. The event’s Green Truck Ride-and-Drive event will include 21 environmentally friendly vehicles, including those fueled by propane autogas and compressed natural gas (CNG). Work Truck Show attendees will have the unique opportunity of driving a vehicle powered by clean fuel in real-world conditions, gaining insights they couldn’t get any other way. The event will be held March 5-8, 2012 at the Indiana Convention Center in downtown Indianapolis.
Cygnus Aviation Expo - March 7-9, 2012: People often forget about the huge amount of ground vehicles airports need to support both their airplanes and their customers. The Cygnus Aviation Expo focuses on this often overlooked market of ground support, maintenance and other aviation professionals, which is increasingly adopting alternative fuels. Your attendance at Cygnus could get you on the ground floor of a growing industry and offer a chance to network and attend educational seminars. This year’s convention will take place March 7-9, 2012 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, NV, and will feature over 250 exhibitors.
Energy Independence Summit – March 26-28, 2012: Hosted by Clean Cities, the Energy Independence Summit 2012 (EIS 2012) brings together clean vehicle and energy leaders from around the nation to share information about federal green energy polices and exchange ideas and information. The conference will also include key members of the U.S. Congress and the executive branch, and will even include a day where Clean Cities Coordinators will speak with Congressional leaders about alternative fuel projects. If you’re interested in seeing first-hand the government’s approach to fleets and alternative fuels, this is the place to be. This year’s conference will take place in Washington, D.C. from March 26-28, 2012.
The 2012 International Conference for Police & Law Enforcement Executives – April 1-3, 2012: This year’s conference features another promising market for fleet managers and alternative fuel companies, as law enforcement department have a huge demand for cutting costs and emissions. The 2012 conference will assemble local, state and federal law enforcement officials at the executive level, who will be discussing how to successfully manage their careers in the face of new challenges. The conference will also feature an accompanying trade show. This year’s conference will held at the Sheraton Seattle Hotel in Seattle, WA from April 1-3, 2012.
NAFA 2012 Institute & Expo - April 21-24, 2012: The National Association of Fleet Administrators’ (NAFA) 2012 Institute and Expo is the largest gathering of fleet management professionals in the nation, and offers attendees and exhibitors opportunities for networking, training and education, and previewing new products and services. This year’s expo will take place at America’s Center in St. Louis, Missouri on April 21 – 24, 2012. According to NAFA, their members collectively manage more than 3.7 million vehicles, so this conference will offer a great opportunity to see the big picture of what technologies and policies fleets will be adopting over the next year.
ACT Expo – May 15-17, 2012: The Alternative Clean Transportation (ACT) Expo is a conference showcasing all kinds of alternative fuels and clean vehicles. Attendees can explore new technologies and funding opportunities and discuss policies and ways to incorporate alternative fuels into their fleets. The ACT Expo offers a unique opportunity for direct communication between decision-makers looking for fleet solutions and the companies that can provide them. This year’s conference will take place May 15-17, 2012 at the Long Beach Convention Center in Los Angeles.
Western Trade Show and Conference: May 17-19, 2012: The Western Trade Show and Convention, hosted by the Western Propane Gas Association (WPGA), is the largest event for the commercialized propane industry west of the Mississippi River, and features educational sessions on new technologies and how to grow your business. The trade show features more than 200 exhibiting companies displaying the latest in propane products, vehicles and services, and allows attendees face-to-face discussions with company representatives. This year’s convention will be held May 17-19, 2012 at the Reno Events Center in Reno, Nevada.
