Virginia Propane Autogas Roadshow and Hampton Roads Clean Energy Day Odyssey
Chesapeake, VA
October 18, 2012
Hosted by: Virginia Clean Cities

Virginia Clean Cities hosted a propane autogas roadshow in Chesapeake in conjunction with the Hampton Roads Clean Energy Day Odyssey event, one of many Odyssey Day celebrations across the country October 18. The roadshow showcased autogas-powered fleet vehicles in the Southeast Propane Autogas Development Program as well as presentations from SPADP partner Alliance AutoGas, ROUSH CleanTech, the Propane Education and Research Council and VCC. More than 60 people attended the propane autogas roadshow in Chesapeake.

“The Virginia Propane Autogas Roadshow is particularly significant because of Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell’s recent move to convert the state’s fleet to alternative fuels, including autogas,” said Alleyn Harned, executive director of Virginia Clean Cities. “Autogas is the most widely used alternative fuel in the world for a reason: it’s clean and cost-effective. With the Southeast Propane Autogas Development Program, we’re hosting autogas roadshows and helping fleets from Maryland to Louisiana get up and running on this affordable, American-made fuel.”

Southeast Louisiana Propane Autogas Roadshow
New Orleans, LA
October 25, 2012
Hosted by: Southeast Louisiana Clean Fuels Partnership

The Southeast Louisiana Clean Fuels Partnership hosted the last propane autogas roadshow of the SPADP 2012 Propane Autogas Roadshow Series on October 25 in New Orleans. More than 30 people attended to learn more about the benefits and available technology of propane vehicles. Attendees heard presentations from numerous vendors, including SPADP partner Alliance AutoGas, as well as a testimonial from SPADP fleet Airport Shuttle.

“We have a lot of propane [in the US],” said Julie Puckett with the Propane Education & Research Council in an interview with New Orleans ABC news station affiliate. “We have so much we’re exporting it to other countries. So we’re importing other oils and exporting our own fuel source. It doesn’t make any sense!” Ninety-eight percent of the U.S. propane supply is domestically produced, and propane autogas costs more than $1-per-gallon less than gasoline.

Thanks to all of our partners and attendees for a successful 2012 series, and stay tuned to the SPADP website for details about the 2013 SPADP Propane Autogas Roadshow Series!
